proyecto access
Our History
The Proyecto Access program was implemented at Hostos Community College since 1997, as a replication of the nationally well-known San Antonio Pre-freshman Engineering Program (PREP). The program is funded by NASA and developed by The Hispanic Association for Colleges and Universities (HACU) to increase the number of minority graduates in the STEM disciplines from colleges and universities.

Moving Forward
Proyecto Access STEP has served more than 5,000 students and STEP now serves more than 350 secondary students annually.
Due to the effectiveness and positive outcomes for our secondary school students, Proyecto Access implemented the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry program in 2011 to serve undergraduates increasing the STEM pipeline. Hostos CSTEP now serves more than 150 undergraduates with the goal to increase the minority representation in STEM majors.
